The latest gameweek 13 review where I have gone through the action from the weekend but primarily highlight possible bargains and differential that have developed, trying to find value among for gw14.
Newcastle 0-3 WAtford
Newcastle simply have not looked like a team where valuable fpl assets can be found after this game. The popular cheap goalkeeper is suffering from a leaky back 4 in front of him which was evident as Watford put 3 past him and really should have been more. Aswell as this they offer very little going forward, budget options such as #Joselu(5.1) #Gayle(6.1) and #Ritchie (5.7) look poor in value compared to other similarily priced. Their defence earlier in the year looked like an option for value defenders but with #Lascelles(4.7) they look unorganised and in disarray. Avoid until he’s back at least.
Watford are in strong contrast with huge value coming all across the pitch. Both Kiko #Femenia (4.5) and #Zeegelaar(4.4) look great budget options. #Hughes(4.6) has scored 22 points in two game weeks. #Richarlison (6.6) is probably one of the best value for money players in the game with another assist this week to add to his astounding tally of 5g 5a for a player who started at 6.0!
Crystal Palace 2 - 1 Stoke
Stoke uncharacteristically look unorganised and rattled at the back, Ryan Shawcross(4.8) had an awful game , perhaps at fault for two goals and missing a clear chance. Despite his assist he epitomises Stokes defending as of late and would avoid their assets at the back. They don’t offer much better up front but the pairing of Shaqiri(6.0) and Choupo Moting(5.7) offer value in the midfield and are certainly differential picks in comparison to Pascal Gros(6.0), with Shaqiri possibly more likely to explode for a large haul such as this gameweek with 9 points!
Crystal Palace still need work at the back and Roy certainly hasn’t sewn it up yet despite being in charge a reasonable amount of time now. They do have good fixtures but I would be hesitant about bringing any defenders until they begin to solidify it at the back. Zaha(6.9) despite no return this week is a differential option but would be worried about his returns being minimised by the return of Benteke(7.6) and Roy using Long Ball tactics, by passing the skillful attacking midfielder. Ruben Loftus Cheek(4.5) on the scoresheet , certainly an option as a cut price midfielder to open up funds. Speroni(4.0) loses his place, pity for those who recently brought him in as a cut price keeper.
Man Utd 1 - 0 Brighton
Brighton could end up being the budget team of the year. Brighton showed that they have great defensive solidarity , great organisation , fantastic aerial dominance which = BPS . Great counter attacking options with Gross(6.0) and Knockaert(5.7). Good , clinical striker in Murray (5.8). In the defenders Duffy like yesterday was solid at 4.5 , great in the air and is no nonsense , however one yellow from a suspension. Despite his OG Dunk (4.4) is another option for .1 less but probably less BPS. Gross with BPS despite no returns, everything Brighton do comes through him, huge value at 6.0
United- Despite 4 goals last week, really struggled to break down Brighton, a possible worry for UTD owners. As usual great at the back and once the CB pairings is solidified can jump on BAilly(6.1) or Rojo (5.4) as they are currently fielding the 4th and 5th choice. DDG popular and rightly so for GKs. I think Valencia is very expensive for 6.8 in comparison to Azpi/Alonso. Pogba faded and definitely could have done without playing 90 mins. Lukaku no return, time to sell ? I think so.
West Ham 1 - 1 Leicester
Been very little progress under Puel or evidence of it. However after the Spurs game their could be value in their backs as they shore up, with Fuchs (4.9) and Maguire(5.1) being good options.Mahrez a blank and poor game, I think there is better value at that price(8.4) Gray despite early signs no real returns so would avoid.Vardy returned but does not seem sharpe and is a worry as hasn’t lit up this year.
West Ham assets are still uncertain , would avoid for a while. Unsure where you could find value, possibly Cresswell with his crossing in the future when fixtures turn but for now I’d avoid.
Spurs 1 - 1 West Brom
Don't look secure at the back, very unusual for Spurs but perhaps without Aldwierweld , Wanyama and the fullback rotation has ruined their solid defensive record. Son should have scored and if he is nailed on at 7.9 would be a nice alternative. Alli(9,3) and Eriksen(9.5) have both had significant falls on the back of consecutive blanks ( Alli assisted I know) Not sure why they have been less successful this year , both have got assists and goals in the UCL so perhaps its only a matter of time before they start producing again. Kane (12.8) fially returns, * points, he’s a season keeper, keep the faith, be patient and Sir Harold will most definitely be one of the top scorers come gw 38.
West Brom - Looked better without Pulis but would avoid all assets for the time being , don’t seem like there’s much value across their squad.
Swansea 0 - 0 Bournemouth
Good returns for Swansea backs, 9 pts each for Fabianski and Naughton both 4.6. Swansea will be inconsistent but against other low sides defenders are options. Not much going forward this week but Bony could be option at 5.7 now that he’s back. Carroll(4.5) back in the team, good for those who own him. Bournemouth did not look as great as last week, could well have conceded. Worrying for those who jumped on their defence with their great fixtures. Wilson(6.0) blank , maybe just a bandwagon , will see over next few weeks.
Liverpool 1 - 1 Chelsea
Worrying signs for those jumping on Liverpool great attacking options as their fixtures turn good is the lack of injuries and Klopp beginning to rotate. Fixtures come in hot and heavy and the German won’t hesitate to rotate his abundance of attackers. This is worrying as Salah becomes the highest owned player in FPL off the back of another goal. However, if Liverpool get in their stride and their attackers become fluid watch many attackers from Liverpool gain big hauls as they score plenty. Liverpool host Everton in gw 16, if things look the same it’ll be a cricket score. Mane looked a diff pick at 9.3 but the rotation was worrying , Salah has become an essential. Moreno had a great game but any doubt about his place in the team to bed, at 4.6 looks like great value despite it being in the Liverpool defence.
This game just further concreted the fact that HAzard has become an FPL must, with theit turn of fixtures, his form and his new found position you need him in his team. @10.7 he’s tough to fit in but if you can you most definitely should. Morata(10.6) was kept quiet and I think he is prone to those type of game still best value premium striker.
Azpi v Alonso both at 6.9 is certainly a debate. I think both will get CSs , both are nailed while AZpi will get plenty of BPs , Alonso offers more going forward so it is probably down to personal preference.IF Christensen is nailed on, huge value at 5.4.Rotation could be worrying. Willian scored but don’t think will be a viable option long term. Pity Fabregas was dropped , was definitely a diff option at 6.9 considering his performance as of late.
Southampton 4 - 1 Everton
Everton are a shambles and would avoid all assets except maybe DCL(5.0) and Niasse(5.0) as enabling strikers but thats it until something is done to organise the club.
Southampton were hard to judge as Everton were so poor. Still no CSs so a worrying sign if you still own their budget defenders, seem to be vulnerable without both Romeu and Lemina. Austin starts and two goals, certainly a budget option at 6.0 if he starts every week.
Burnley 0 - 1 Arsenal
Another CS , huge potential in that back 5, Monreal/ Mustafi and Bellerin all differential picks under 6.0. Ramsey an assist , could be another diff pick at 7.0 with Arsenal’s great fixtures. Sanchez with another goal, if he continues his form will start to pick up interest, would’nt invest just yet. Missed Ozil to break down a team
Burnley ,huge huge potential at the back , simply doing FPL wrong if you dont own one of their defenders, unlucky to concede so late to a soft penalty.
Huddersfield 1 - 2 Man City
Lossl another option for budget keepers at 4.6 with plenty of saves. Schindler another budget option at 4.6 if fixtures are good. Not much going forward however. City strikers both return, despite one starting. IF paired with another strong striker I think either can be feasible. Still run that risk. No return from Silva, Sane and KDB, not too much to worry as will definitely return long term. Sane one YC from suspension is a worry tho.OG from Otamendi , I know this is unlucky but I think a switch to Kompany (5.8, same price) would be more benficial , an aerial threat and BPS magnet. Sterling (8.1) I think long term can be just as valuable as Sane and other similar priced MIDs , seems to be far more goal orientated this season and reaping the benefit.
