H17 2017-10-19 Others

We compare two players from the same position. Based on player and team statistics, form and future opposition. We hope this will help you when choosing your team for next Game Week. Cheers!

Walker vs Maguire

Maguire: 5.1 mill. – Points – 35 - TSB 7,4% - Form 4,3 - Last GW 2p
Next 3 opponents SWA (a), EVE (h), STO (a)
1 Goal – 2 Assists – 2 CS – 4 BP

Walker: 6.6 mill – Points 37 - TSB 14.4% - Form 4.7 – Last GW 2p
Next 3 opponents BUR (h), WBA (a), ARS (h)
0 Goals – 3 Assist – 5 CS - 1 BP

With Man- City scoring a lot of goals now, especially at home. This comparison might seem unfair. But after these stats you might beg to defer.
Harry Magurie has taken a demanding role in Leicester’s defense. He is a constant threat in the opposition’s box during set pieces.
Kyle Walker is a part of Pep Guardiola`s fast passing, quick moving attack. The Man. City defenders play a great role in the buildup, and the full backs/wing backs can be as high up in the pitch as the strikers. Walker was very unlucky with an own goal, last match versus Stoke, getting a grudging touch to Diouf`s header.
But even with Man. City scoring for fun, and Walker playing high up in the pitch. This is a hard choice. Maguire have some great stats. And the competition for those valuable bonus points are thinner for Maguire.

This is a hard choice. I do not have any of these in my team. It is very tempting to go for Maguire because of the price and TSB difference. But if you have the cash I would take my chances on Man. City keeping a CS. So my pick is Walker.

Sané vs Sterling

Sterling: 8,1 mill. – Points 50 – TSB 12,0% - Form 10.3 – Last GW 15p
Next 3 opponents BUR (h), WBA (a), ARS (h)
6 Goals – 2 Assist – 3 CS – 3 BP

Sane: 8,4 mill. – Points 47 – TSB 8,9% - Form 9,7 – Last GW 10p
Next 3 opponents BUR (h), WBA (a), ARS (h)
4 Goals – 3 Assist – 2 CS – 5 BP

The way Man. City is playing at the moment we might as well be compering Kevin De Bruyne vs. D. Silva. Or any of Man. City`s midfielders. So we did!

There are a lot of FPL managers out there asking about these two players. The stats help us a lot. Sterling is to me the obvious choice. In the games I have seen, there seems to be a bit of a role differential between them. Where Sane keeps closer to the sideline, providing width to City`s attack. Sterling gets more involved, and has a freer role in the middle of the pitch.
Total passes: Sterling 227 vs. Sane 174
Forward passes: Sterling 102 vs. Sane 60
I conducted a small interview with a friend who is a die-hard City fan. He claims they perform the same duties, but Sterling keeps popping up in the wright areas. “It`s a coin flip”, he said, when I asked who will score more points next week.

I chose to sell Mhkitaryan because he was dropping in price. And I replaced him with Sterling.

Abrahamvs Diouf

Abraham: 5,7 mill. – Points 39 – TSB 9.3% - Form 7.7 – Last GW 13p
Next 3 opponents LEI (h), ARS (a), BRI (h)
4 Goals – 0 Assist – 8 BP

Diouf: 5,4 mill. – Points 31 – TSB 1.4% - Form 6,7 – Last GW 9p
Next 3 opponents BOU (h), WAT (a), LEI (h)
2 Goals – 2 Assist – 3 BP

The so called “third option striker”. If you get this one right you can really jump ahead in the game. The big question in this comparison is, “where does Mame Biram Diouf play”? Is he a wing beck, a wide midfielder, or a forward? One thing is for certain. Mark Hughes likes him, and needs him. He fits in to his plans, and always seems to be the one who can fil in the gaps in this shaky Stoke City side. Looking at Tammy Abraham, he is a striker, no questions needed.
And there stats reflect this. Diouf has played all over the pitch, so naturally he is a part of the buildup. He has more passes forward and backwards. Abraham has a much better overall attacking score (186.24 vs. 84.26). He is also more accurate in his finishing (67% vs. 27%). But Diouf shoots more, both inside and outside the box. He creates more chances and more key passes.
They both enjoyed a good GW 9 (from a FPL point of view). Abraham netting his first brace, and Diouf scoring and assisting (of Walkers knee). Both teams have good home fixtures in GW 10.
Abraham has been more consisting in regards of threat, but in the last two games Diouf has matched him. Maybe that means he is getting a more forward position now, and in the future. Abraham is the safest striking option, bit Diouf provides that sweet differential pick.

I have Abraham, so I will not sell. But if I didn’t I would risk Diouf this time.
