H17 2019-08-29 Injury Update

Steve Bruce says that Matt #Ritchie will be out for around two months after sustaining ankle ligament damage. Allan Saint-#Maximin is set to be sidelined for between three and five weeks with a hamstring problem, meanwhile.
"Miguel #Almirón (ankle) and #Joelinton (groin) will recover. Dwight #Gayle (calf), DeAndre #Yedlin (groin) and Andy #Carroll (match fitness) remain out"
On Andy Carroll: "We're still thinking, hoping, at the end of the international break that he's somewhere near."

Spurs report that Kyle Walker-#Peters (hamstring) will miss the north London derby, while Ryan #Sessegnon (hamstring), Juan #Foyth (ankle) and Tanguy #Ndombele (thigh) remain out. Eric #Dier (hip) is being assessed.

Frank Lampard says that N'Golo #Kante, Pedro and Antonio #Rudiger will miss the visit of Sheffield United, although the latter will play for the development squad tonight.
on Mason #Mount: "Mason is OK. It was more of a dead leg, like a kick. He's fine, in training.

Daniel Farke confirms that Timm #Klose has ruptured his PCL and may need surgery. The Norwich boss says the best-case scenario is a four-month absence but he could be sidelined for anything up to a year.

Roy Hodgson says that James #Tomkins is on the brink of recovery, while Scott #Dann has a cast on his hand and will be assessed. Other than that, Palace are "okay on the injury front."

Pep Guardiola on Gabriel #Jesus and John #Stones: "They are much better. I don't know if they will be available tomorrow but they are much, much better. If they are not ready for tomorrow, the Norwich game they will be ready."
On Joao #Cancelo: "When we come back from the international break, we have Norwich, after three days, we have to travel to Ukraine, after three days we have a game here, then Carabao Cup. Start the real season in terms of a lot of games."

Marco Silva on #Kean, #Delph, #Sidibe and #Iwobi: "We gave them the first start [v Lincoln]. I like what I saw. Because he started the middle of the pre-season with us, Fabian knows more things than the others about our model and philosophy."
Eddie Howe says that Bournemouth don't have any injured players returning for the match against Leicester but that Lewis #Cook and Simon #Francis are "getting closer."

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on #Martial/ #Shaw: "After the international break, hopefully Anthony will be ready for the Leicester game and Luke maybe another week or two after that.”
"They've got slight injuries that they picked up in the game against Palace, and in one respect, it's a positive time to get it, because it's the international break for them, and they won't miss many games.”

Solskjaer on #Greenwood: "Mason is not used to playing as little as he is at the moment. He's used to playing every week for the reserves or under-18s. He won't be expected to play five games on the bounce, he's a covering option behind Anthony and Marcus."

Jurgen Klopp on #Alisson: "He made steps but it was a proper injury, so it will still take time. When you have a muscle thing, it takes as well a while to bring the muscle at the same level it was before. The calf muscle is pretty important for jumping"
Klopp: "That will all come afterwards, so no reason for resting players at the moment. It is about finding rhythm, finding the mood again, that we do the right things in the right moment. It is not the moment for a lot of changes."
"After this international break, that will change completely. In the moment, the defensive set-up or whatever, as always, it is about who is in the best shape."

Brendan Rodgers on Ben #Chilwell: "He’s back into the squad, so he’ll be fit and available. There’s been consultation between the FA and the club. If he wasn’t ready to go, we wouldn’t send him. But if he’s fit and available for tomorrow, then he’ll be fine to go."
on Wilfred #Ndidi: "Wilf is back in the squad. We could have maybe taken him in the midweek, but we wanted to give him a good week’s training. So he'll come back into the squad."
on Wes #Morgan: "Wes came off with an issue with his back, so we’re just waiting to see the final results."
on #Vardy's lack of shots: "It's the nature of the games we've played. Really low, compact defences. First game against Wolves, very deep, playing with a back five. Sheffield United, playing with a back five, deep. Newcastle, deep, playing with a back five."

Bournemouth confirm #Daniels will undergo surgery on his dislocated patella. “We are devastated for Charlie, who had worked so hard to come back from his previous injury on his left knee in the second half of last season. Our worst fears were confirmed following scans this week."

Manchester United confirm that Luke #Shaw and Anthony #Martial will miss the Gameweek 4 match against Southampton.

Emery on David #Luiz: "It is not easy for him, the adaption to us has been very quick, but I am very happy with him. Yes, we can speak about some fault with one player or another player, but we can also speak about very good things - with him, the same."
Emery: "I think they can start together and they can play also during the match, it depends how we decide our gameplan. I can be also very optimistic for that situation, but not also with those three players, also with Reiss #Nelson, with #Willock, with Mesut #Ozil."
Emery on playing #Pepe, #Aubameyang and #Lacazette together: "Yes, but be calm. My decision before was, thinking in each moment how we are."
"For example, with #Lacazette we had some problem in his ankle. I think this week is the best week of the last three, getting better and feeling better with his ankle, it’s very positive."
"#Pepe, he came here later than the others and also progressively he is playing and getting better in each match. #Aubameyang for us is very important, he scores two goals in the first two matches, he had two or three good options in Liverpool."
"Rob #Holding is training with us, playing with the under-23s but he is not 100 per cent to play on Sunday with us. We think now he is getting better, he can play one match but not with the intensity we want for Sunday, for example."
Emery says that Nacho #Monreal leaving before Monday's European transfer deadline "is one possibility".
Unai Emery on Hector #Bellerin and Kieran #Tierney: "That international break is going to give us two weeks to test them better than before, because now my focus with the team is the players that will be available on Sunday and to prepare with them."

Javi Gracia confirms that Troy #Deeney (knee) is his only absentee for the trip to Newcastle.
Gracia on #Sarr/#Welbeck: "These two players, in my opinion, need time. They need time to show their best qualities, their best condition, but in this moment we need all of them. We will see, we'll decide if they start, play some minutes or play other players."

Dyche on #Gudmundsson: "Just a minor, low-level calf strain. We've just got to be a bit careful hence why it's highly unlikely he's fit for Saturday. There's a very strong chance that during the international break he's fit and well."

Potter on injured players: "They're making good progress. I'm hopeful #Bissouma maybe the Burnley match, some involvement. #Schelotto not quite sure, maybe a bit more time. But they're both getting close. [#Izquierdo] is going to take a bit more time."

Potter on whether he'll stick with a three-man central defence: "That's what we've been working with, that's what's given us a foundation to go forward with."

Sean Dyche has reiterated that Johann Berg #Gudmundsson is unlikely to feature this weekend but a scan has revealed that the Icelandic winger only has a minor calf injury.

Dean Smith on Mohamed El #Mohamady: "He knows he's got a challenge now with Freddy #Guilbert, who has put in a really good performance against Everton. What I want is people challenging for positions and he's certainly got that challenge now."

Manuel Pellegrini reports that Michail #Antonio will have an MRI scan tomorrow on his hamstring injury. Javier #Hernandez has recovered from a knee problem, meanwhile.

Ralph Hasenhuttl on Nathan #Redmond: "In the moment it looks that he seems to be out for two or three weeks, I think. The next ten days he has to wear a shoe that doesn't move his ankle. It can be quicker, it could be worse."
"Besides Nathan, #Moussa [Djenepo] is injured, he has a problem with his muscle. He is also out for the weekend. Michael #Obafemi doesn't really have an injury but he cramped a little bit and so also for the weekend it's maybe too much for him."

Steve Bruce confirmed that Matt #Ritchie (ankle), Jetro #Willems (hamstring) and Emil #Krafth (thigh) all picked up injuries in the Carabao Cup tie against Leicester last night.

Manchester United confirm that Luke #Shaw and Anthony #Martial will miss the Gameweek 4 match against Southampton.
