Welcome to another edition of players to keep tabs on for GW4, players who might do well for their respective FPL managers. The picks for GW3 had very underwhelming returns, Martial did get 5pts but only Sterling got a respectable return of 8pts. Now let's get into this week's picks...
Azpilicueta (£6.0) - 7.0% ownership vs Sheffield United (H)
We kick things of with The Blues captain, Cesar Azpilicueta. Chelsea's defence has definitely not impressed, something we first saw in preseason and it has continued in this season's first 3 games. They haven't kept a cleansheet this season, but that might change in GW4 as they host a shot shy Sheffield side. They managed only 31 shots and 18 shots inside the penalty area in the opening three Gameweeks. Both those totals rank among the bottom four sides. Azpilicueta will benefit from this, and if he gets another assist against The Blades as he did in 3-2 win over Norwich, the Spaniard will return a big haul for his FPL owners. He was very lively going forward, and his runs in the wing was wonderfully read by the likes of Jorginho & Mount. There's a sense of optimism that Azpi will return a big haul.
Vardy (£8.9) - 7.7% ownership vs Bournemouth (H)
Next we swiftly move on to Leicester's talisman, Jamie Vardy. The former England international was amongst the goals for the first time this season after blanking in the in GW1 & 2. He latched on to another brilliant assist by Maddison, scoring against his former side Sheffield United. Vardy has now scored 10 goals since Brendon Rodgers became The Foxes' manager, tied with Sterling at the top goals-wise in this period. He now will definitely be looking to continue scoring after a slow start to this season. He has had 3 big chances in 3 games, not too shabby at all. Leicester host Bournemouth in GW4, a side that has some struggled in defence having conceded a whopping 49 shots at goal with 15 being on target in 3 games. Seeing this, Vardy will licking his lips and it looks like he'll return big points.
Aubameyang (£11.0) - 23.7% ownership vs Spurs (H)
On to Aubameyang we go, a player who has yet to blank this season, getting 2 goals and an assist in 3 games. Arsenal face a Spurs defence who has yet to keep a cleansheet this season. Adding to visitors defensive woes, they have a crisis at right-back following Kyle Walker-Peters’ injury last weekend, a position that can be easily exploited by Auba if he does play on the left side of Arsenal's attack. The last time Spurs visited the Emirates, Auba got 2 goals & an assist in a 6 goal London Derby thriller. The Gabonese forward has had 6 shots at goal, with 4 on target and has had 15 touches in the opposition's box in the 3 games played this season. All this points to Auba getting his first double-digit haul of the season.
Aguero (£12.0) - 18.7% ownership vs Brighton (H)
We close off with Sergio Aguero, a player that reminded Fantasy managers what he is capable of as he scored a brace in Manchester City’s 3-1 win at Bournemouth on Sunday. He finished GW3 with a tally of 13pts, level with Haller & Abraham but only bettered by Salah. With Jesus ruled out for a few weeks, Aguero will definitely benefit from this and he showed it against The Cherries after getting his first 90-minute outing. He is one of 4 players in the PL who have scored in each of the first 3 gameweeks. The Argentinian has had 5 big chances in the above mentioned period, a stat only bettered by teammate Raheem Sterling. City host Brighton in GW4, Aguero 10pts per game at home last season against the bottom teams, a very scary stat. The visitors have only conceded 3 goals thus far with 2 coming when they were down to 10 men against Southampton. Anyway, none Aguero owners should be very scared.
